Bucharest gets the hint
Speaking of low-cost terminals, Romania’s Transport Ministry has announced plans to build a low-cost airport at Alexeni, near Bucharest. When the facility is complete in six to ten years, it is expected that most of the low-cost carriers now operating out of Bucharest Baneasa will move to the new airport. The tariffs at Baneasa will be increased, which will probably help motivate the LCCs to move.
Olivier Jankovec, general manager of ACI-Europe, said that Romania must develop an aviation infrastructure to cope with expected growth in European aviation.
