A total of 50 Samsung mobile charging stations are now available throughout JFK

Samsung plugs in at JFK

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ), together with global airport advertising specialist JCDecaux, installed mobile charging stations at John F. Kennedy International Airport just before the holiday rush, in a bid to head off increased demand for mobile road warriors looking for ways to power up cellphones, laptops and other personal electronic devices. In the last couple of months they have increased the number installed to 50. Each of the stations, designed by JCDecaux, provides four outlets – and valuable brand exposure to Samsung Mobile.

“Over the past decade, cell phones, laptops and other electronic devices have become a part of everyday life, especially when traveling,” said Dale Sohn, president of Samsung Telecommunications America. “To celebrate Samsung Mobile’s 10th anniversary in the U.S., we are providing the Samsung Mobile Charging Stations to travelers at JFK airport free of charge.”

The company is also trying out a new concept at Dallas Fort Worth International, where it has set up Mobile Travel Centers that allow passengers to rest, recharge personal electronic devices, and watch TV on Samsung televisions. The concept is called ‘tryvertising’ and is catching on at airports in particular, with companies setting up branded facilities such as lounges, charging stations and other amenities.
