Gary to build new hangar at GYY

Gary Jet Center, a privately operated FBO based in Chicago, has released plans to build a second hangar for corporate jets at the Gary/Chicago International Airport (GYY). The 38,000-square-foot hangar is slated for completion this spring, and will supply additional aircraft storage space for the increasingly vital location.

The $5.0 million hangar will more than double GJC’s hangar space in order to meet increasing market demands as high costs and long waits at Midway and O’Hare airports send more private jets to GYY.

“The corporate community is being edged out of Midway because of space restrictions and congestion,” said GJC president and CEO Wil Davis. “Today, it’s all about space, and they aren’t making any more there. Our airport is only thirty minutes away from down town Chicago. It’s a logical step to fly here.”
