Northport gives ground to RTG

Northport Oy, the ground handling company of Finnair Group, has signed an agreement to transfer its ground handling operations at 13 Finnish airports to RTG Ground Handling Oy. The RTG Group assumes responsibility for passenger check-in, loading and de-icing services as of April 1.

Ground handling operations at all but one of the 13 airports have up to now been handled by subcontractors outside the Finnair Group, one of them being the RTG Group, which has been in charge of ground handling at six airports.

“This arrangement is a continuation of Finnair’s strategy of concentrating on its core business,” said Northport managing director Tero Vauraste. “Transferring domestic airport ground handling operations to a diverse travel services company will enhance operational efficiency by exploiting synergy benefits.”
