YVRAS tops up Tradeport stake

Vancouver Airport Services (YVRAS) has finalized the purchase of the remaining 37.67 per cent of the shares of Tradeport International Corporation, increasing its ownership from 62.33 per cent to 100 per cent.

Tradeport has a long-term lease to manage, operate and develop John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport in Hamilton, Ontario. One of the fastest growing airports in Canada, in 2006 Hamilton International handled 527,000 passengers, 74,500 aircraft movements and 86,000 tonnes of cargo. It is Canada’s busiest inter-modal freight airport, with regular service by Purolator, UPS and CargoJet.

“Acquiring the remaining shares is a natural progression for us,” said George Casey, president and CEO of YVRAS. “We are excited about the continued growth opportunities at the airport and are committed to working with the City of Hamilton and other key stakeholders to further develop the airport as a key economic driver in the region.”

YVRAS owns Vancouver Airport Services, which operates 18 airports in seven countries including Canada, the Dominican Republic, Chile, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos, Cyprus and The Bahamas.
