Edinburgh chief quits

The head of Edinburgh Airport in Scotland has announced his resignation, apparently without a new job to go to. Richard Jeffrey attracted notice for the rapid expansion and increased traffic the airport experienced under his management: Edinburgh is poised to become the busiest airport in Scotland.

Jeffrey said he was looking for a new challenge and that he’d done everything he could at Edinburgh. News reports on his departure suggest that he has been offered posts with Edinburgh operator BAA in England or overseas, but has turned them down because his family has settled in Scotland.

His position will be filled by David Johnston.
