Representatives of the six Nordic members welcome the addition of the IAA
IAA transforms Nordic ANSP alliance
The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) has joined a “Nordic Air Traffic Management Service Concept” alliance established last year by the air navigation service providers (ANSPs) from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Finland and Estonia. The inclusion of the IAA, noted the authority’s CEO Eamonn Brennan, transforms the Nordic alliance into a North European alliance, and forms an important step toward further cooperation between ANSPs in the region.
The overall objective of the alliance is to develop harmonized and cost-efficient air navigation services for airline customers. Knut Skaar, chief executive of Air Navigation Services, Avinor, commented that the addition of the IAA is in line with the intention of the Single European Sky initiative and is the first step toward more user-friendly service.
