Fraport starts ‘airport city’ construction

Fraport AG’s real estate subsidiary has begun construction in the Monchhof development area near Frankfurt Airport. Fraport acquired the 110-hectare site in 2004/2005 to develop real estate for logistics companies. The project is expected to generate thousands of new jobs in the medium term.

Fraport Immobilienservice und -entwicklungs GmbH is now in negotiations with companies that have expressed an interest in locating in the Monchhof zone. The site is close to Frankfurt International, which is a major global hub, and is also well integrated into the German autobahn system. Officials from the nearby communities of Raunheim and Kelsterbach believe that the development will establish the area as a major commercial site in the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main region.

Phase One will focus on building roads and providing utility services to the building sites.
