Domodedovo leads Moscow aviation for 2006
Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport has released its 2006 results, which show a 10.1 percent year-over-year increase in traffic figures. The airport landed 14 new domestic and international airlines and tacked 30 new international destinations to its overall coverage in 2006, according to a statement from operator East Line Group.
The highest growth was recorded for such destinations as Bangkok, London, Istanbul, St. Petersburg and Larnaca, East Line says. Domodedovo served over 1.9 million passengers on these and other high-volume routes, for a 40 percent growth over 2005 figures for this segment. Total passenger throughput on global routes for 2006 reached 8.5 million, a 9 percent increase. Domestic traffic totaled 6.8 million, an 11.6 percent increase.
