Hudson News outlet at JFK: Hudson has extended its Terminal 4 lease to 2013 and has spent US$2.5 million to renovate its store there

JFK Terminal 4 wraps up successful 2006

The concessions program at Terminal 4 at JFK International Airport in New York has marked its best year ever, according to terminal operators JFK IAT. For 2006, food, beverage and retail merchandise sales were up 15 percent over 2005. JFK IAT cites a 19 percent rise in passenger enplanements as a major contributing factor, along with commercial development plans by major retail partners DFS, ARI/Sardana and Hudson News.

Noteworthy for 2006 was the extension of the DFS lease by five years – it now expires in May 2011. As part of the extension the operator expanded its gate shops, adding a wider range of cosmetics, liquor and fragrances. JFK IAT says this led to a tripling of sales on the A Concourse and more than a doubling on the B Concourse. This in spite of the security restrictions handed down in August that have caused passenger confusion, which JFK IAT and DFS have worked to dispel through cooperative programs to educate travellers.

JFK says further investment plans are in the works for major upgrades and brand additions, including a separate shop dedicated exclusively to Mont Blanc, which will be available at the main pre-security store.
