GAMECO to set up FedEx maintenance hub

Guangzhou Airport Maintenance Engineering Co. (GAMECO) has announced plans to set up an aircraft maintenance facility for FedEx at Subic Bay International Airport in the Philippines. The company plans to invest US$729,000 in the new facility, which will handle all maintenance, parts storage and handling functions associated with the business operations of FedEx at the airport. The airport serves as a main diversion airport for Ninoy Aquino International Airport, as well as serving as the main air entry point for the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

“The strategic location and the availability of highly trained workers are major factors which make Subic Freeport more conducive for regional hub operations in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority chairman Feliciano G. Salonga.
