• Aeroflot has launched self-service check-in counters at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport. In the initial phase the service is for passengers with carry-on luggage.
• Penauille Servisair has commenced ground handling and de-icing services for JetBlue’s new operations at Chicago O’Hare International Airport. It has also signed a new agreement with AirTran Airways to provide ground services at Phoenix Airport in Arizona.
• Groundforce has begun operations at Gran Canaria Gando Airport following its successful bid for licences at seven Spanish airports
• IATA has appointed Michael Barclay as regional vice-president for Asia Pacific. He will take up his duties in May, taking over from Andrew Drysdale.
• Air Canada Jazz has awarded Penauille Servisair a Cerificate of Recognition, in recognition of their 100 percent compliance Turn Times project “Baggage Process.”
• LSG Sky Chefs has named Dale Easdon the regional chief operating officer for the United Kingdom. He joins LSG from Continental Airlines where he was a senior director responsible for in-flight service operations. Easdon replaces the retiring Guenter Beer.
