RTE launches cellphone boarding passes

Glasgow-based Real Time Engineering has released “RT-MobiTicket,” a system that delivers IATA-compliant 2D boarding passes directly to passenger cellphones and mobile devices. The system uses patented mobile technology produced by Mobiqa Ltd. to encode passenger details in an industry-standard 2D barcode, which can be read directly from the mobile handset by existing scanners recently installed in airports for paper-based “print-at-home” boarding passes. The system means passengers don’t have to carry any hard-copy boarding pass or find a printer to print one out. The company says it also positions airlines to generate additional revenue by offering premium check-in services.

Mobiqa’s software dynamically sizes boarding passes and barcodes for mobile/cellphone screens of any size
